Right now I am looking at one of the beautiful Cheap Rugs my mother used to make. We would save old woolen clothes. When we had enough, we would cut them in long strips. I remember tying the three strips to the door knob and then plaiting them. When we got to the end of one color of cloth, we would loop in a braid of another color, Then as soon as we had enough, we would start sewing the braids together in an oval shape, adding more until we got the size we wanted. I’ll call my 92 year old mother and see if I have forgotten any of the details. I know she sometimes crocheted them.

Now each of my brothers and I have one of Rugs. Mine includes the blue suit I wore on my honeymoon, my mother’s white church dress, and my father’s plaid blue and brown shirt. Right now my little Pomeranian dog is napping right in the middle of my rug. She looks very decorative, but it is a little hard on the Area Rugs.
